watercolour painting from a reference photograph £5

About This Workshop
A fun workshop focusing on watercolour techniques such as wet on wet and lifting. Lifting can be a great way to add subtlety, tonal variation and a three-dimensional quality to your work. You will also learn how to transfer a drawing traced from a reference photo onto your watercolour paper, ready for painting. This technique will free you up to enjoy the painting process without the fear of the drawing stage getting in the way. Understanding the lifting technique will also help you to be less worried about unwanted paint sploshes and more confident about correcting mistakes.
We will also discuss how watercolour paint colours can change as they dry and the value of using a limited colour palette. You will also learn some tips on painting that all-important eye. Eyes that feel alive can make all the difference to your work.

Quality paints are expensive but also have more pigmentation. This will enhance the techniques in this workshop making them more evident.
Quality paper will also produce a better result. 100% cotton paper will give the best results.
It is, of course, fine to start with cheaper materials and invest in more expensive ones as your experience and interest in this wonderful medium grows.
Just be kind to yourself if some of your results are a little more subtle with cheaper materials.
